Meinl's FICY-2 finger cymbals have a 2 3/8-inch diameter, and they're made of a special bronze alloy. They're relatively thick, giving them plenty of volume and excellent resonance. You get the best sound when you tap the edge of one cymbal to the other in a 90-degree angle. Although finger cymbals are often played by striking the bottoms of the cymbals together, that is not the way to go about playing these unique instruments. By subtly shaking the cymbals after you strike them together, you can create a subtle vibrato effect.
